Step 1. The Interpretive Strategy
The Interpretive Strategy defines what the exhibit visitor will learn, feel and do.
This step includes:
 

  • Exhibit goals, themes and key messages

  • Definition of target audience

  • Visitor experience narrative

 
Step 2. The Conceptual Plan
The Conceptual Plan builds on the work of the Interpretive Strategy to begin illustrating the exhibit experience and communicate to stakeholders how exhibit goals will be met. This step includes:
 

  • Conceptual floor plan

  • Tour flow diagram

  • Conceptual renderings of individual exhibits and areas

  • Outline organizing topics into a storyline

  • Methods for delivering content to visitors

  • Interactive options to enrich visitor experience

  • Graphic design look and feel

  • Development video (2 - 3 minutes)

  • Initial project schedule

  • Cost estimates for Design and Fabrication Phases

Step 1. Preliminary Design
Details and specifics of the exhibit are developed from information in the Conceptual Plan.
 

  • Detailed floor plans

  • Plan and elevation drawings of exhibit elements

  • Preliminary construction drawings

  • Finish schedules

  • Color and material board

  • Preliminary graphic layouts

  • Preliminary catalog of artifacts

  • Preliminary manuscript

  • Media/interactive content outlines

  • Preliminary digital interactive development

  • Project schedule

  • Cost estimate

 
Step 2. Final Design
Upon approval of Preliminary Design, final designs are created.
 

  • Final detailed floor plans

  • Final plan and elevation drawings

  • Final construction drawings

  • Audio-visual specifications

  • Lighting schedules

  • Final color and material board

  • Finish schedules

  • Final graphic layouts

  • Final catalog of artifacts

  • Final audio-visual scripts

  • Digital interactive development and testing

  • Final cost estimate and production schedule

 

All exhibit related services, systems and products provided to include: space alteration and preparation, furniture, casework, graphics, labels, artifact mounts, electro-mechanical and digital interactives, software, hardware, media, audio-visual engineering and hardware systems, speciality lighting fixtures and components.
 

  • Media and interactive rough cuts

  • Final media and interactive programs

  • License agreements and Copyright permission secured

  • Space preperation

  • Production of all exhibit elements and systems

  • Installation

  • Operation documentation and training provided
